Dear Valued Customer,

On March 24, 2025, United States President Trump issued Executive Order (EO) 13692 “Imposing Tariffs on Countries Importing Venezuelan Oil”. The EO authorizes a 25% tariff on imports from any country that import Venezuelan oil with a potential implementation on April 2nd or after with the direction from Commerce. This decision is part of ongoing U.S. foreign policy regarding Venezuela.

The EO states that the Secretary of State and Department of Commerce (Commerce) will determine, at their discretion, which countries would be subject to the additional tariff. Once the additional tariffs are imposed, the tariffs will expire “one year after the last date on which the country imported Venezuelan oil” or earlier if Commerce chooses to remove them.

The EO also states this tariff will be in addition to any International Emergency Economic Powers Act (IEEPA) tariffs, or Section 301 or 232 tariffs currently in place. In addition, if these tariffs are imposed on China, these tariffs will also apply to Hong Kong and Macau.

We are monitoring this situation and will provide further updates as they become available.

Thank you for being a Valued Customer.  If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact your C. H. Robinson commercial representative for further information.

Sincerely,

C. H. Robinson
