CBP Trade Summit Registration Now Open
On March 21, 2025, U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) announced the opening of registration for the 2025 Trade Facilitation and Cargo Security (TFCS) Summit. This annual summit will take place in New Orleans from May 6-8 at the Hilton New Orleans Riverside hotel and as a virtual webcast. The theme for this year’s event is “Trade for Strengh: Securing America’s Future & Reshoring Prosperity and Security Supply Chains.”
This is an opportunity for importers and exporters to meet CBP and other government officials. CBP has also provided attendees the opportunity to make appointments to meet directly with the Automated Commercial Environment (ACE) Helpdesk and the Global Entry team.

Section 232 Updates
On March 24, 2025, CBP issued updates to their Section 232 Tariffs on Steel and Aluminum Frequently Asked Questions | U.S. Customs and Border Protection page to include additional guidance for goods subject to the Section 232 duties on steel and aluminum. The updated FAQ includes updates on several topics including:
International Emergency Economic Powers Act (IEEPA) Update for Canadian Energy and Energy Resources
CBP published CSMS # 64514918 - UPDATE - Energy and Energy Resources from Canada Subject to Additional Duties Pursuant to Executive Order to provide an updated list of HTS numbers impacted by the additional 10% duties.
IEEPA FAQ and Updates Posted
On March 14, 2025, CBP posted the IEEPA China and Hong Kong Frequently Asked Questions | U.S. Customs and Border Protection guidance for China or Hong Kong origin goods subject to IEEPA. Guidance also includes information as to what HTS numbers qualify for the “informational materials”.
