Tyre Stewardship Fee, New Zealand

Dear Valued Customer,

C.H. Robinson wishes to advise of the introduction of a Tyre Stewardship Fee applicable to all importers and onshore tyre manufacturers as of March 1, 2024. 

The fee, implemented by the Ministry for the Environment (the Ministry) and the New Zealand Transport Agency Waka Kotahi (NZTA Waka Kotahi) will be applied to all regulated tyres entering the New Zealand market. The Ministry will be responsible for the collection of the fees as per section 9 of the tyre regulations. 

The fee will be billed from April 2024 on a monthly basis, with importers and manufacturers receiving an invoice for tyres imported during the previous month. Invoices must be paid no later than the 20th day following the month in which the invoice was issued, paid by bank transfer into the Ministry’s Tyre Scheme Bank.
